Vancouver, Canada – November 30, 2010 - Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR; TSX: SW) today announced that Aisino Corporation, a leading information technology company in China, has selected Sierra Wireless AirPrime™ Q2686 intelligent embedded modules with Embedded SIM for integration into its network billing machine. The Aisino network billing machine enables tax payers to immediately feed their tax data to the Taxation Bureau, using the China Mobile network to provide real-time communication with the back-end server.
Aisino undertakes many national major projects in the tax sector in China and is a key technology and service provider for the Golden Tax Project‚ which aims to eliminate tax evasion and fraud activity in the collection and reporting of Value Added Taxes (VAT) by establishing a national computerized taxation network. As part of the Golden Tax Project, Aisino has developed a new backend taxation system and network billing machine, with an integrated Sierra Wireless AirPrime Q2686 embedded module, to provide real-time transaction and billing information to the government. It saves time for businesses in declaring tax and also helps the Taxation Bureau to more closely monitor the tax control system.
The AirPrime Q2686 embedded module comes equipped with the China Mobile WMMP 3.0 protocol, which allows Aisino to rapidly develop and deploy the tax payment machine for use on the China Mobile network without having to perform extensive development and testing, resulting in much faster time to market. In addition, the Embedded SIM feature included in the AirPrime Q2686 module strengthens the security of the wireless tax payment machine by eliminating the use of the traditional plastic SIM card, reducing the chance of the SIM being stolen and used for other purposes.
