At this year's SPS 2012 in Nuremberg HARTING will unveil its integrated solution that comprises the reading of RFID transponders, the control of handling and production technology and extends all the way through to the respective entries into the SAP-ERP system. The integration of Ha-VIS RFID middleware, combined with a Beckhoff controller, into a SAP-Auto-ID infrastructure (AII) system will be displayed. HARTING is offering its customers RFID hardware, software, system integration and consulting from a single source highlighting its solution expertise.
The long-term benefits of this Auto-ID solution quickly become evident. The results of the RFID transponder reading procedure are processed in an integrated way as the raw reader data is firstly condensed and filtered by the Ha-VIS middleware and then presented in its business context within SAP AII. Necessary activities in the system network are determined via a set of rules and transferred to connected systems.
Data can be (re)written to the transponders or electronic messages sent to connected control systems, such as a Beckhoff SPS, via the Ha-VIS middleware – initiated and controlled by SAP AII – if, for example, a dedicated material flow or production control system is not available. The benefits of this solution include a high level of integration with a streamlined overall process. Manual steps are reduced to a minimum, while major flexibility gains with regard to production, quality control and maintenance are achieved, resulting in significant improvements in the quality of the relevant processes.
