HARTING: commits to the community

Hong Kong, 17 April, 2013 – HARTING concentrates on business development as well as fulfills the social responsibility and contribute to community. Since 2007, HARTING has made many contributions to and the development of education, environmental protection and corporate citizenship.

HARTING (Zhuhai) Manufacturing Company Limited donated more than RMB 200,000 to Jinan University, Zhuhai campus. The company established “HARTING Love Scholarship” to support students from poor families with outstanding performance in 2007. HARTING also set up a number of different scholarships between 2009-2010, including the “HARTING Electric Information Scholarship”, “HARTING Outstanding Students’ Leader Scholarship” and “HARTING Outstanding Students Scholarship”. Over the years, more than 50 of Jinan University, Zhuhai campus students benefited from these scholarships.

For training young students to become successful engineers, HARTING set up the “HARTING Growing Star Scholarship” in Jinding Number 1 Primary School – Zhuhai High Tech Zone in 2012 to provide opportunities for outstanding student to become successful engineers. There were altogether 55 students awarded the scholarship, and HARTING will continue this scholarship for at least three years.

In Hong Kong, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed in 2012 between the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and HARTING Technology Group to strengthen the collaboration of research and developments in Advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Through the partnership, PolyU will focus the research on promoting worldwide standardization, testing and certification of RFID and its related IoT technology such as wireless network and communication technology, carrying out technology transfer activities such as joint research projects, training and seminars, knowledge and market development updates.

In environmental area, HARTING Hong Kong and Zhuhai have been jointly awarded the Green Medal for the 2nd consecutive year in the Hang Seng Pearl River Delta (PRD) Environmental Award since 2011 which organized by the Hang Seng Bank, a subsidiary bank of the HSBC group and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI). The Hang Seng PRD Environmental Award honors and encourages manufacturing companies in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region to continually enhance their environmental performance by recognizing and rewarding their green achievements in the past year.

Since 2010, HARTING Hong Kong has been successfully honored as one of the Caring Company Awardees recognized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services (HKCSS). The mission and objectives of the HKCSS and the Caring Company Award are to build a caring community spirit through cultivating corporate social responsibility (CSR) and strategic partnership among the business and local charity sectors. The aim is to raise public awareness of good corporate citizenship, motivate strategic partnerships initiatives among business and charity organizations and recognize companies which demonstrate good corporate citizenship in the last year.

HARTING has expanded rapidly in China, not only the production plant in Zhuhai, HARTING also operates in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Changsha, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Xian, Zhengzhou, Qingdao, Tianjin, Beijing, Shenyang, Changchun and Taiwan. HARTING invested over USD 16 million in Zhuhai new factory (Phase 1) and total floor area of more than 20,000 sqm, it is the production, logistic, training and research and development center of Asia.、
