Schneider Electric Donates RMB 3 Million to Support Quake Relief

A Pledge of Sustainable Support and Committed Solidarity to China

Beijing, China, May 14th, 2008 - Schneider Electric, the French-based global specialist of energy management, has announced that it donated RMB 3 Million worth of monetary and equipment to aid in the recovery of  yesterday's earthquake-hit areas, through China Red Cross and State Grid Group. This includes RMB 1 Million in cash and another RMB 2 Million worth of equipment to restore damages and rebuild schools and power infrastructure in particular.

Pledging once again its commitment as a responsible corporate citizen to China, Schneider Electric will also set up an emergency relief team of electricity professionals to support recovery work in those areas. Meanwhile, the Company fully supports an ad hoc employee donation drive which has already begun.

Schneider Electric Global CEO, Jean-Pascal Tricoire has also expressed his heartfelt condolence to Sichuan government, pledging Schneider Electric's support in the relief efforts.

Guy Dufraisse, President of Schneider Electric China, said: "We felt it was a necessary thing to do as a company that deeply values and integrates principles of social citizenship and responsibility. Schneider Electric expresses our deepest sympathies to the families affected by the earthquake and we promise to contribute towards rebuilding their homes. Just as what we had done in the February snowstorms, we will uphold what China has taught us in the past 20 years and help each other out in difficult times."

During the February snowstorms this year, Schneider Electric donated RMB500,000 worth of power distribution equipments to help restore the power supply and infrastructure in Hunan. In the past years, Schneider Electric has actively implemented social programs that are focused on youth development like the LULI and Hope Schools program. Most recently, it became the sponsor of the first Women's Forum in Asia, a three-day event taking place in Shanghai, which aims to resolve gender diversity and disparities at the workplace.
